totally different. the s1 was a rally-only tool with over 550hp, never sold
to customers. the s2 was a normal car, the replacement for the ur-quattro,
standard with the 3b/rr engine initially (220hp), later with the aby (230hp
+overboost). a nice practical coupe which still looks great. however, to
muddy the waters a little, the s2 formed the basis of a rally car which
competed in the wrc in the early 90's courtesy of sms in germany.
if you've had a drive in an s1, you are a lucky, lucky man. a number of
people on this last have owned or do own s2's (moi also).
