Having driven both the quattro on an 88 5000 and my current A6, I can say
that far and away the A6 is the superior drive. I honestly don't have the
experience that you do with the car, and I don't have the sport system
either (though I did upgrade my summer wheels and tires). The car will
happily and efficiently chew through just about anything I throw at it. With
a stiffer suspension system, it would feel like riding on rails, I'm sure.
