Well it's been an amazing project and quite a ride upon the rewards /
frustrations roller coaster but I find myself (like most tinkerers) getting
bored with the LT-1Q project. I am officially deciding it's for sale if
anyone out there is interested. I won't go into the full genesis of the it
but the following is where the project is at:
Current Motor: 1996 Chevy Corvette LT-1 60k miles, great compression, no
leaks, really smooth
Current Engine Management: Painless Wiring 60501 Harness running slighty
tweak'd 1993 GM ECU in closed loop mode
Current Clutch: got about 5000 miles on it, showing no abnormal signs of
wear
Current Trans: 200,000+ mile , blown bearings - needs replaced, but
currently driveable
Current Suspension: Koni/SPAX Full Coil-Overs all adjustable
Current Brakes: BigReds fr / stock rears, Tilton adjustable bias.
Current Exhaust: custom (of course) dual 2.5" with cats and 'test' pipes.
Lakewoods too...
Current Wheels: 17x8.5's
Interior: Pretty Good. The driver's seat leather needs repaired but it is
a Sport setup.
Exterior: Well it is what it is... No sheet metal problems, hand flaired
in the back, ugly but functional.
Performance: it's quick. VERY quick. At 55mph you can almost get 25mpg,
anything above that and you're getting somewhere around 18-22mpg.
NOTES: If someone wants this car I've already arranged for a replacement
trans and will install it. This last one was faulty (but free) when I put
it in, but I simply HAD to have the car for MidOhio and so I dunked it
knowing full well it wouldn't last anyway. It's predecessor lasted a LOT
of miles before being blown up by an idiot (me) at an Auto-X doing
something really stupid... I am quite confident that as long as you change
the trans fluid each season it will last reasonably long. The history of
the drive line problems were eventually traced to a poorly machined part.
The original supplier of the pilot bearing adapter collar machined it out
of round, which was the root cause of needing to replace the first 5
clutches, and 2 trannies. This has been remedied.
I'd like to get somewhere in the neighborhood of $6,000 as it sits. If you
don't want the coild-overs or BigReds or other stuff on the car then make
me an offer. Any responses should be direct to me. Please send replies /
taunts / heckling / offers to both my e-mail accounts:
