Hydraulic Pressure Accumulator, aka the "Bomb", Question

First suspect would be the bomb.  You can test it by turning off the engine 
and counting the number of pumps until the pedal gets hard.  If it's 30 or 
more pumps, your bomb is like new.   If it's 10 or fewer, your bomb is 
dying.  If it's one or two, you virtually have no brake boosting (your 
brakes still work, but you are supplying all the power) should the engine 
stop turning before the car stops.
