Climate Control Fan

My blower fan for my climate control only works when I make left turns ( 86 5KQT). Some have suggested the brushes may be going but why would it only work when I turn the steering wheel when the car is in motion? It will not come on if I am stationary and I crank the wheel. I just replaced the blower 3 or 4 years ago. Any ideas???
