Lime Rock sightings / ground straps / ramblings.

Had a great time at the Rennsport event at Lime Rock this weekend.. I think
the number of Audis present rivaled the number of Porsches. Saw very few
5000s however. It appears New Englanders prefer the later cars with
genetically superior doorhandles... We did spot 2 rare and recently
discussed non-turbo quattro 5000s. Not far from them was a beautiful and
very rare black 964 flaubach Turbo S that Taka mentioned. Got photos of
everything... I'll send some your way once they are uploaded.

Saw a clean pearl bebadged 100/200 with what looked like A4/8 wheels
(225/50-16) but were designed to have center caps covering the lugs.. The
spokes themselves were a bit more angular (similar to the 2001 F150
Lightning wheels) Took a closer look and they were genuine Audi / speedline
wheels. Anyone know what model these are from? Got a set for sale?

I'm pretty sure my 5k has some grounding issues. VDO gauge shows ~13v at
first start but this drops to <12v as the car warms up. Lights are bright
and the car drives and restarts fine so I'm comfortable that the battery is
being recharged. From my GTI days I remember poor ground straps being a
common occurance on the older cars. Before I start adding wires, I'm looking
for suggestions for which grounds are most likely to cause problems.

Also had a brief discussion with another Audi owner about installing a 20v
head but need to know for certain if the 20v head bolts on to the MC
block... Changing pistons to adjust the compression is not an issue, I am
most concerned about the head bolt patterns / physical fitment. At this
point this would be just for the sake of bench racing / garage talk as I'd
rather keep from cracking the motor apart but I'd like to hear from anyone
who has successfully done the swap.

Lastly, does the 20v clutch bolt right in place of the stock unit? Looking
for a bit more holding power for future upgrades.

Thanks,
-tom
