Strange Smells

if there is gunk in your cooling system, ( when is the
last time you flushed it ?? ) it could have very well
sealed itself up for now, but all it needs is one day
in traffic while its 90 out to build up pressure and
pop loose again. if your ready to do it anyway, get a
pressure tester, and pump it up to about 16-18 lbs and
see what happens, i was testing a car ( customers that
i actually own now ) i just replaced the coolant neck
on the back of the head ( 89 80 ) and i was pumping
away, trying to figure out where the hell all the
water i just put in was going-the core popped and put
about a gallon of water on the drivers floor !!

your smell is probably and bad gasket, my 944 turbo s
had a bad manifold gasket that would be very noisy
cold and in about 5 minutes would seal itself up and
you'd never know it when the car was hot. can you hear
anything cold ??? exhaust fumes can get in your car
from anywhere, do not underestimate them. any hole in
your floor, bad trunk seal, bad door seal. i had an
s-10 that i put a roll pan on, and had the tail pipe
redone so it wouldnt stick down so far and look ugly,
i had it put striaght back and when i had the slideing
window open, i got fumed to death ( well, ok near
death ). i had it re-done to go out the side and no
more fumes. it traveled forward six feet into the cab
while the truck was moving !!!!!!
