Oil Pump re-use/substitution

As I was in the process of putting the NG motor back together, I noticed
that the oil pump housing had a small but probably critical crack in the
relief valve portion.
So, off came the pan. I removed the oil pump. I fortunately have the 3
extra motors, and snagged a pump off of the KM engine - I think that's what
it is - looks like any other I5.
I'm wondering if there should be any concern with using this pump. I
cleaned it up, but did not disassemble. It seems to spin freely with no
resistance or grinding. Do these things go bad? Is there any reason that I
shouldn't use this pump? Should I open it up and inspect, or am I more
likely opening a can of worms, and if it feels OK then it probably is?
TIA fot the replies.
Ben
