It sounds like you have way too much negative camber, which is wearing the inside edges of your tires. Our A4 had a similar problem when it was running a "slammed" ride height, which has now been corrected.

The reservoir thing in your fender is the vacuum reservoir to operate the power locks and such, IIRC. I have a similar blue reservoir in the driver's side fender of my 200q.
