Oil Pump re-use/substitution

I hadn't heard from anyone on this.

Is it reasonably safe to assume these oil pumps last indefinately, or should
I be tearing the thing apart and checking for lash, etc.  Those phillips
screws do not come out easily!

I appreciate the input - this one is holding me up more than coilover
suspensions, boostmods and steering racks;-0
