Need shocks for '86 4kq

I have to respectfully disagree with you. High pressure gas shocks will
affect ride height.
If you put on a new set, it will lift up the front end as compared to an old
set. Not saying that this is the problem on the car in question, but it
will happen. Put a set of Konis on a car, and put a set of Bilsteins on an
identical car, and the Bilstein equipped car will set higher...
Don't forget though, that after a while, they will work their way back down,
which is why I have been told to not get you car aligned for about 1k miles
after getting new struts.

By the way, if you have lowering springs, I would definitely stay away from
the AutoZone/pep boys struts. Go rent the spring compressor (for free) at
one of those places regardless, but with lowering springs, the cheapo
Gabriel Springfield shocks don't have enough damping. They aren't made to
sit at a lower ride height.

When I went to Pep Boys and AutoZone, neither had the struts in stock. I
had to have them ordered. They were still rather pricey considering. I
think they cost as much as the set of KYB's or possibly more. I'd check out
www.shox.com they seem to have pretty good pricing, and a good selection.
