*sigh* HID lights under attack

I've been wondering about these self-levelling lights: how quickly and
how often do they self-level, and how long are they going to last? 

I'd hate to think that ten years from now, the roads will be filled with
maintenance-deprived HID cars whose self-levelling mechanisms are
jammed. Bright lights plus bad aiming is no good.
