When the same thing happened to a beater SAAB I had years ago, I held the 
headliner up by pinning it back into place with a bunch of my wife's 
straight pins (the type used to hold fabric pieces together while they're 
run through the sewing machine).  I inserted them at an angle into the 
backing panel a couple inches apart in rows maybe every 16 inches.  Worked 
until I scrapped the car maybe a year later.  Someone here once suggested a 
similar approach incorporating something that might look like a reasonable 
trim material that had a little stiffness.  You'd need fewer pins because 
the "trim" would help hold the fabric up.
