If it's cracked around the brass bolt, it most likely means that a gorilla 
tightened it after they loosened it when they re-filled the system.  That's 
the venting screw when you drain/refill the system.  As an aside, it's very 
important not to completely remove the bolt as you may loose the nut that's 
_inside_ the radiator - but I wouldn't have any personal knowledge of that 
:-).  It's normal to loosen and then tighten this when doing a coolant 
R&R.  I would examine the cracks and if they appear to be from 
over-tightening, i would go have a nice chat with the shop mgr....
