Dashpots

I dont know if this was EVER resolved, but I never saw a
conclusive answer.
But in the PNW (usa) the believe from some rather
knowledgeable folks that have contacts to Audi and MTM is that
the dash pot was placed to slow the movement of the throttle
plate for two reasons. Drivability and on turbo cars to help
reduce the spike in pressure. The Dash Pot came into being
befoer the bypass valve so at that time leaving the TB open a
little helped to relieve some of the pressure spike pre TB.
Additionally it smoothed the open to closed movement to help
drivability.
Anyhow, thats what we believe. If anyone has any GOOD reasons
to the contrary I'd love to hear them. But since its an old
thread we dont need to congest list traffic I guess. Sorry.
Please reply directly, I'm not getting list traffic currently.
