Eric:
They run hot. My understanding is that they also have a thermal shutoff
circuit in them. A couple things you can do if this happens. First, if you
have A/C delete, you can mount the boxes behind the glove box, that's where I
mounted the two I run in my 83 urq. I ran the center diff locked for almost
16hours straight on my way to Steamboat this past february, without an
overheat shutdown. Second, you can vent the box quite easily, tho since it's
a circuit board, you might want to put in some sort of air filter. All that
said, you don't have a lot of air space under the rear seat to dissipate the
heat, especially if you run 2 of them.

I just converted my UrQ manual diff-locks to
electronic units. The problem I am having is the
electronic actuators are getting very HOT! I have
only hooked up +12v, Grnd and signal. I used the
wiring diagram and they are working fine, so I am
pretty sure they are hooked up OK. Is this heat
normal or did I screw something up? I have the
actuators mounted under the back seat. Thanks.
