as a wild guess I'd say about 200 watts.  might be only 50 or 100, and
there would be ways* to calculate it I suppose, but I think 200w will do
it.

*measure resistance of fan winding = Rf.
R = resistor, probably 0.9 ohms.
Vf = voltage across fan winding
Vr = voltage across resistor
Pr = power dissipated in resistor

Vr + Vf = 13 volts.  Vr = (R/(R+Rf)) * 13

Pr = ((Vr)^2)/R

this is the actual power dissipation in action, obviously the resistor
should be rated quite a bit higher.

others - feel free to check my rusty electrical formulae and correct as
necessary.  Has Ohms law changed much in 20 years?
