I must say this...
I HAD A BLAST !!!!
The whole weekend up there was great. From the dinner at Dana Place to the
ride home on 93 with 6-8 other Audi's it was a very fun weekend.
Sat afternoon I got up to the mt a bit late and everyone had left already.
I went to Dana Place and found out what time dinner was, went back to Gorham
to check into the Royalty Inn and rest a bit. Got to dinner and met Paul of
NEQC fame and a few other people. Food was pretty good there, if a bit
pricey.
Sun morning, got to the mountain about 8:45 and parked the car. Started
talking to people and looking at cars and pretty much didnt stop till the
end of the race. Speaking of, I only ended up watching the 2nd half of the
2nd run of the day :)! Was having too much fun talking to people and just
walking around. Saw some pretty nice rides, including Mark's very very nice
4ktq. Next motor I do, I'm doing the powder coat thing. Finally met Huw
and a few other people I know from here. All in all a very great day at the
mountain, even including that EVIL EVIL BASTARD Chris Semple who is
currently tempting me with a 20v wagon!!!! GRRRRRRR! I guess I havent had
enough abuse yet that I am even contemplating buying this! BTW I must say
thanks to Chris for the favor he did for me. Speaking of Chris... for those
of you that weren't there or didnt see it, his ride is, well, rather
interesting to say the least. Its a 4kq with 3 headlights as the 4th one
was in the way of the blow off valve. Yes it has a blowoff valve for the
RS2 turbo and a massive but thin intercooler attached to the MC 1 motor.
Looking at the interior and its sparse to say the least. Theres a pair of
seats, some gauges, pedals, door handles, and a steering wheel. Other than
that, there is nothing else in it. Doorpanels you say? The steel bar
inside the doors? All extra weight says Chris, dont need any of that stuff
anyways. The door panels now consist of a thin sheet of aluminum (almost
foil) over the inside of the door held on with some tape i believe and
perhaps a few screws. Opening the rear door was like pulling a potatoe chip
on a hinge :). The trunk was quite nice too, as it has no lock or metal
subframe X under the sheet metal. It was rather floppy!
All in all, I think i could have picked it up and walked away with it with a
little help from 1 or 2 other people. When Chris goes lightweight, he goes
lightweight! I didnt get a ride in it, but if that motor does what it
should, it should be a wild ride!
The ride home was a blast too! 8 of us took Bear Notch road to the
Kangamangus Hwy and other than the moron on the motorcycle that couldnt be
bothered to move over at one of the NUMEROUS turnouts and the absolute
IDIOTS in the subaru, it was a great fun ride. Course keeping up with a S4
and a 200 20v with a 200 10v thats overboosting wasnt easy either! I will
be replacing the large WG hose to the back of the manifold as i think its
sucking closed and causing at least part of my problems. We will see this
afternoon.
Anyways thats enough rambling.. had a great time meeting everyone and cant
wait to do it again!
