Hi,
I don't even want to think about how you must feel right now...
I think that I will move the fuel pressure regulator from the fuel rail to
the fire wall because of this incident. I don't like the placement as it is.
I will also test the fire extinguisher in the 200TQ and move it to the 80TQ,
maybe I'll even get a big extinguisher as a complement. I will also move my
insurance to an other company.
Our club has talked about a fire drill for some time now, one of the firemen
in our club wants us to have some hands on expirence of putting out engine
fires. As someone said the first step is to spray throgh the grill, then get
the bonnet opened only enough to get the nozzle inside. Then when you open
the hood you must stand by the side of the car and pull the hood toward you.
This way you are protected by the hood and the side of the car if the fire
starts again. The driver side is the natural choice if it is a 10v engine.
On a 20v it is probably still the driver side that is the best choice in
most cases.
Halon became illegal over here last year, I thought that it was that
everywhere. I wonder how many people will die because of that. I am sure
that a racer care a lot about the ozone layer when he is fried in his seat.
