Shudder during acceleration

In response to the suggestions so far:
1. I swapped out the old plugs for new F5DPOR's two days ago. A carbon
cleaner was used at the same time. Right away I got rid of a hesitation
that had been plaguing the car, but am left with the shudder at high
acceleration.
2. Check boots for cracks. If I understand correctly, the boot is the
rubber(?) tube that fits over the tip of the plug. If so, the flange on
three of these things is cracked or broken at the end with no appreciable
damage to the body of the boot. I thought that might suggest a replacement,
but the first mechanic to look at the car indicates they're performing
normally. I can't tell you for sure how he knows this but said he checked it
when replacing plugs.
3. I haven't checked the bypass valve but will do so on Friday when the
car's in the shop.
