If I'm not mistaken, that ended with the introduction of the B2 90 in late 
'84. Thereafter, 80 stood for 4-cyl and 90 for 5-cyl. That is, until the 
introduction of the B4 in 1992 when the '90' designation was dropped and 
80s could be had with 4-, 5- and 6-cylinder engines.

The B2 80 CD was indeed available as a FWD 5-cylinder. Nice cars- every now 
and again you see an immaculate example still running around. Nicely 
equipped, most had autoboxes.
