Bob posted a BIG(182-ish mb) file of one of his runs up the mountain,
very cool.
However, it's a slow download from his site(several hours) so I'm putting
it on my server as well.
Here's the cool part: it's Swarmcast enabled. Which means that when you
click on the link, the swarmcast java program will be launched, and other
users, who are also downloading/have downloaded the file, will feed you
the file. After you've pulled the file down, the swarmcast app will
continue to run until you've contributed back a little; they call it
"karma". It works quite well and will saturate a cablemodem or DSL line
pretty well if you've got a couple people who are kind enough to let
swarmcast stay open. There's the option to let swarmcast close when
you've "repaid your karma" or you could just leave it open if you want to
be kind and help out(cablemodem/dsl line users, try to do this!)
The URL for Bob's in-car-video is:
http://www.swarmcast.com/gate/?url=http://www.200q20v.com/~brett/bob_incar_mtwash.mpg
Please do NOT be tempted to monkey with the URL above(ie, just using my
server directly.) That defeats the purpose of swarmcast, and the
bandwidth sucking will annoy me and I'll just remove the file.
No matter what your connection, you will help others by leaving the
swarmcast java app up for a bit after your D/L finishes. If you've got
unlimited internet and it's a local call, hey, why not? It took me almost
3 hours to grab the file, because I was only getting 10kb/sec from Bob's
server, a fraction of my line's available bandwidth.
In the coming days, look to see a swarmcast enabled album download, if
this works well...wouldn't that be fun?
Brett
PS:if you have the latest album, drop me a line...
