wont rev past 5750, resolved

thx everyone but it wasnt the fuel pump relay, popped into my local german
and swedish (car parts), and asked for a 5cyl fuel pump relay, and asked the
guy behind the counter to check out the part no. on the relay i had, to
which he replied that it was the same as what they would sell me.
He asked about the problem and told me that would be the rotor arm, he
showed me others, and sure enough they were stamped up with the cut out rpm,
so £3.50 later and i had a rotor arm with no rev limiter !!!! nice
have to say its that much more fun to be able to see 6500-7000 rpm on the
clock, makes it all that much quicker!!! wont often use it up there but its
nice to know that when overtaking on the wrong side of the road, it wont all
stop as abruptly as before.
So thanks everyone, but you were wrong this time. and thanks to a guy who
knows his vws.
