Brake Light Shenanigans

The brake warning light on my 1990 200 is becoming pesky.
The bomb is known good, passes all pump-down tests, and is relatively
fresh. No problems with Pentosin levels, although a past leak forced
me to replace the front half of the HP hose last summer. No leak
now.
But the darn brake light takes 30+ seconds to go off in the AM, and
when the car is warm, I sometimes get flickers from it while idling
at a stoplight! It's clearly a non-bomb related problem.
Any BTDT's? I think I recall some discussion of a possibly related
problem in the past couple of months, but I can't recall specifics.
Was there some mention of a check valve in the pump?
TIA, friends. Direct replies are appreciated.
