Turn Off HTML Encoding In Messages

Just b/c it says "MIME Version 1.0" DOES NOT MEAN YOU'RE USING MIME...That
header is used to indicate that if the message had anything other than
text, it would encode it using MIME. MIME is sort of like winzip...it
compresses files and scripts to go along w/ emails. My email headers
contain the "MIME Version 1.0", but my messages are text only. What tells
you if the email is text or html is this header: "Content-Type:
text/plain". Otherwise this would say "Content-Type: mixed/html" or
something similar.

I think this whole MIME craze is out of hand. Waste of bandwidth you say?
How about all the WOB used by people trying to figure out their settings. I
really think it would be impossible to get everyone on the list to change.
Even on technical lists html is very common. As I see it there are two main
ways harm can be done from MIME messages: 1. opening an encoded attachment
or 2. the html code in the message calls up a dangerous script. In the
first case you should NEVER open an attachment if yer not expecting it. In
the second case, the client gives a warning about running a script first or
other such code. If you bear these thing in mind, you might get lucky and
never have a virus. I've been getting emails for 6 yrs now, and never had
an experience w/ viruses, even though I read HTML messages...Even though I
really hate HTML emails, I think it's impossible to eliminate and as long
as you follow certain rules and common sense, you can read emails as you
like. Point is let's focus on fixing and making the cars faster ;> rather
than trying to force everyone [most of which don't know any better, and
therefore somewhat less of a threat] into absolute adherence to the penal
code...

My 2 cents: Chill...
