You're looking at two things:

Bad Clutch Master cylinder
and/or
Bad Clutch Slave cylinder

Really though, it doesn't matter which is bad (or if both are)...they should 
ONLY be replaced in pairs.  (don't make the same mistake I did...I wrote to the 
list about it, it should be in teh archives try 'clutch hydraulics'???)

Very common, BTW.

Labour is about 3.5 hours for a professional mechanic who knows Audis.  Parts 
can be found at the usual sources (Blau, parts connection, the local dealer, 
etc.)
