Fuel Pump Saga ctd....

I have 12VDC (well, "battery voltage" since the batterey is starting to
get run down) at the mating connector underneath the access plate in the
trunk at the top of the fuel tank. I didn't go so far as to remove the
lock ring and measure at the pump but... well should I??? No noise
whatsoever even with my ear right down by the pump access cover. Smells
of fuel pump to me. Anything else I should verify before making that
call to Linda tomorrow and plunking down the pair of C-notes? TIA and
