215 on a sedan

I know you guys are discussing the 80/90 sedan, but I'm running 215/40-16's
on 7.5" et35 rims on my 4000tq, which has a smaller fenderwell. Yes, the
sidewall is very short and stiff, particularly since the P7000's have
rayon-reinforced sidewalls. Every rut feels like a major pothole, and I have
to be so vigilant that I prefer not to drive the car at night with this
setup. 205/50-15 is a much more practical setup for the street.
On the other hand, this setup works so well on the track (with the tread
well worn) that I actually prefer it to the 205/50-15 Kumho V700's I tried
once. I may try 225/40-16's next, although Pirelli recommends a 8" rim for
this tire. I highly recommend the P7000 Summer, just don't expect to get
over 12-15k miles out of it. Compared to the P7000 Supersport, it has a
treadwear rating of only 160 (vs 300) and the reinforced sidewalls.
