Quantum Syncro MC conversions?

Picked up a nice red '86 Quantum Syncro today with a dented in DS door and
fender. I'll probably just fix it up and turn it over to one of my VW mates,
but since it comes standard with the 10v 5-cyl, I can't help but wonder how
hard it would be to bolt in a chipped MC for a very quick, relatively
lightweight AWD wagon. Anybody ever heard of such a project or even
considered it?
