IMHO (an many others) In of this "framed print" craze (ie. Bateman,
Lumbers,
etc.) the most valuable thing being purchased is the frame, and the
paper
second. Autographs may add some value, but I'd prefer to pay to get
into an
event, and get the autograph myself. Already scheming about the Mosport
ALMS race.....

Perhaps it is best you only speak for yourself and not "an many others"
since I have not heard this from any of them. I apologize if my post(s)
somehow insulted you or anyone else but your reply was kinda crtical and
uncalled for IMO.
Art, hmm...like expensive new Audi cars, is something that is really a
"beauty in the eye of the beholder" kinda thing. Priced an 8x10 Jesse
Alexander print lately? The one I liked (and really want) of the Le Mans
winning R8 I saw last Fall at Laguna Seca was U$750.00! (NOT framed
either...) Too rich for my blood but guess what, he gets it (and drives
a 2000 A6 4.2 I might add).
I actually think the Sebring poster lithos I passed along in my first
post for U$50 bux are a killer deal given the rarity. Agreed that the
offering in the second post was a tad steep but obviously you have not
been out pricing art lately. Then again, I suppose if you truly believe
what you stated above then ripping a page out of racer magazine and
framing it is your idea of "motorsports art" hmm? Buying and selling
art, motorsports or otherwise, is hardly a "craze" as it kinda predates
many things we know and love by a long shot. Barton is an exceptional
photographer and is taking his images and creating art with them that is
very rare and limited. (And coveted by many in the racing community I
might add...)
My apologies to any audifans who felt my sharing this information was
out of line but I bet there are a few q-listers who appreceate this kind
of thing who were not aware it existed.
Go snap off a few with your disposable Kodak camera, get the crappy
results autographed, and call it a day ;-) Good for you, you saved a U$
buck or 400 ;-)
My last post on the subject. As a passing thought, this list ain't the
same as it once was...and I do not mean that in a good way. Long timers
will understand what I am saying...
