Master cyl/Clutch Questions

Hopefully the list will have some ideas so I can decide to attempt a repair
myself or tow.

Over the past few days i have noticed that I have had to push the clutch in
my 85 4Ksq further down tot he floor to shift smoothly. Also, the pedal
would travel up normally when released...to a point, then sort of pop back
up the rest of the way.

Finally today I drove the car to my office to finish some work and when I
came out this afternoon, clutch went to the floor and stayed there. Check
the MC and no fluid in reservoir. Under car almost directly centered
(appears to be in the area of the trans, a puddle of DOT-3.

I recently had the rod that goes to the trans repaired (it was flling off,
so the car would get stuck in gear.) I am thinking that either a hydralic
line is damaged, a bleeder screw on the slave worked it's way loose or the
slave is bad.

I am a novice, but it seems to me if the MC were bad, leakage would not be a
symptom. There is not leakage up top by the MC. So, really I guess my
question is is this a symptom of the slave failing, or more likely just a
leak?

As always, thanks for everyone's input...
