No, the 2001.5 Passat is not based on the new Audi A4 (B6 platform)
that hasn't come yet.  It is simply heavily restyled (new nose, new
headlight shape, new taillights, chrome trim around side windows, many
interior changes, etc.).  Underneath, it's still the B5 platform.
