I do appreciate old Jag -- as old Jags. But personally I don't like retro
styling on *new* cars. I equate retro = no new ideas. The new Beetle is
the only one I'll grudgely agree that "it worked." All others -- MB E,
Prowler, and what's-that-toaster-with-wheels-name -- I think they're just
plain butt ugly. But that's just me, I guess.

I applaud those with new ideas or interpretations -- notably like Audi
TT (I don't like it *that* much, but it's nicely styled) and, say, Volvo
V80 sedan (or was that V70??). Very evolutionary from Volvo's "unique"
(brick) styling.

As for Jag... Well, it's pretty much a Ford now. When XK8 coupe came out,
I thought Jag was loosing it. The sister model Aston Martin is a lot more
handsome of the two IMHO. And when Jag came out with S-Type that's when I
when I thought they totally lost it.

I still like "old" Jag like current XJ8. But for that sort of sleek
styling to work, you pay for it in the interior space and accessbility --
which is bad for getting Jag to become a mainstream marque. The main
problem with the new Jags is exactly that -- they have too high/thick of
side profile/beltline to look like Jaguars.
