Bomb troubles...

Listers,
I am in the process of buying one of Russ Southerlin's recharged BOMBS. I am
a little confused about the "pump" test that needs to be done to help him
figure out if my Bomb is rechargeable or not. Russ says to gently pump the
brakes until I loose power assist. Well I did that today and there were over
35 pumps and no lose of brake assist! However if I press very hard on the
brakes I can only get 2-3 pumps until I lose power assist and the Brake
light goes off...also there is a pulsation in the pedal when pressed hard.
Am I missing something here? Is it possible that I don't have a bad bomb? Or
is this normal routine for bombs going out?

I took it to my local mechanic guy whom I trust(fellow 5k Audi enthusiast)
and he said the bomb was bad too...

For reference: Car drives and brakes fine. Braking requires a lot more
pressure then it used to, especially at higher speeds. Brake light has never
come on when car is in drive...

In park with engine running if I pump the brakes hard I lose power assist
after 3 pumps with a slight pulsation in the pedal. Also the brake light
goes on for about 3-4 seconds and then goes off...However if I gently pump
the brakes they will not lose power assist for sometime up to 30-40 pumps...

Car has had brake fluid change 3 months ago and fluid level is up to full.
Also there are no evident leaks in any brake lines or from MC. Although MC
could leak internally, I don't think it would cause these symptoms I'm
having anyways...

Hope all of this make sense:) Looking for some reassurance. Thanks in
advance...
