Windscreen scratch removal

The toothpaste solution only works well with light scratches. Toothpaste
(not gel) contains a VERY fine abrasive that helps polish the teeth. It
may not be enough of a polish for this one. If you can deal with messes,
there are optical grinding powders, but you are definitely taking a risk
of clouding the windshield if you get the grade of grinding powder which
is probably what you'll need to remove the scratch completely. You could
then polish out the cloudiness with successively finer and finer powders
(usually aluminum oxide) until you get to jeweler's rouge but for the
amount of labor involved, it might actually be cheaper to replace or live
with it. Try the toothpaste. It may at least make the scratch less
bothersome and it's essentially free.
