Question to a CARFAX expert (NAC)

Quick question to someone who is CarFax saavy.

My girlfriend was looking for a second car just to beat around in and in
case hers went into the shop.  A 1983 Nissan Sentra caught my eye for $595
cash at a little cruddy dealer here.  The car appears to have only 110K on
the clock and judging condition of rest of car this seems possible.  The car
runs great and for $600 I don;'t expect much however,  when I typed in the
VIN on Carfax, it just came up with a message that "Carfax has no
information on the VIn supplied".

Any ideas.  Since the car runs good and is in great shape I really don't
care how many miles on it considering the reason for purchase and the price,
but I am curious as to the possible reasons Carfax wouldn't have info on it.

Says their records are good on 81& up vehicles.
