ahhh...fresh air

I have (had) a flaky idle prol'em for about a year on my '87 5kcstq. Wrench 
& I did many things (new ISV, check for leaks, etc.) to no avail. Of course 
problem is intermittent (goes away when I visit the wrench!)

Then I got sassy and changed the air filter, since I knew it had been at 
least a year & 1/2 since it was changed. (To the engineer who chose the 
position of the air cleaner/box: I hope camels urinate in your tent and your 
hummus tastes of licorice.)

Old filter was dirty, but I've seen worse.  Also, I noticed a wee amount of 
oil in the box--not a lot, like not enough to "pool", just a brush stroke's 
worth. Anything to worry about there? No oil leaks otherwise.

Anyway, car now idles perfectly...FOR NOW...I bet I just jinxed it.  Also 
seeing 1.3 on a regular basis, not just holidays.

PS: to get at the rr air box clip, I unbolted an electrical connection. It 
was bolted to a triangular piece of metal which was attached to the head (& 
had 2 other elec. wires bolted to it.) The one I removed was pass side rear, 
facing fr of car. Anyone know what that wire is? A ground?  I sanded and 
elec. greased it when I reattached.
