4k Callaway Kit

They might not have knowledge of the 5cyl Callaway kit, but they do have
some parts, as the Audi and VW kits do share some common pieces. I've
sourced some replacement parts from them in the past. However, if you look
around enough, you can usually find most of what you need for replacement
parts elsewhere.

IME, the only piece of the kit that is made of unobtanium is the exhaust
manifold. And perhaps the Microfueler. The rest of the kit can be bought
off the shelf (oil cooler/lines/fittings, silicone hoses, turbo,
intercooler, AC compressor/adapter plate), from the dealer (fuel distributor
waffle boot), pieces of the VW kit from ND, or custom fabbed (intake tract
piping (which could be done better), intercooler.

Also IME, the IHI turbos with the integral waste gate allowed Callaway to
put together a compact kit, but the integral waste gates are prone to
failure. Mine failed(seized) about a year after I had the turbo rebuilt. I
can say that the car was most interesting with 14+psi. When the waste gate
was working, boost is usually regulated to 6-9 psi.

My car is currently awaiting some modifications. I'm swapping in the engine
management harness and computers from a 87.5 CGT, and prepping a 2.3L motor
to take the kit. I'm curious to see the kit can do when mated to a 130hp
stock motor and knock sensing engine management system. I doubt it will be
ready for Mt. Washington this year, but I'll see where things end up.

And Huw, while I hadn't jumped into the fray since the first message was
posted as I was leaving work last night, I did send the original poster a
direct reply.

ND only bought the rights to the VW turbo kits, they have no knowledge of
any kits for the 4kq...
