Just be very careful when you use them. The hooks tend to slip, since
each end is "hooked" over coils that are on an angle. There are some
that have wider hooks that grasp more of each coil, say 2" wide. They
tend to hold better and resist sliding on the spring. The clamb shell
type are more stable yet....but cost quite a bit more money. There is
a lot of energy stored in a compressed coil spring.
