Headlight/Air Bag

Keith, best bet is that the headlight switch is shot. This is a
frequent failure item with the 5K/100/200. Replacement is probably
available from a wrecking yard. You may have to buy7 the switch
assembly with both left and right side switches, but they can be
separated. BTDT.
The air bag comes out as per the procedure in the Bentley, no big
deal, just make sure to disconnect the large red connector located in
the wiring harness on the driver's side of the center console, under
the panels. This connector sometimes has been shoved into hard to
find places in the console, but it's there and controls air bag
activation.
Once that's unclipped, just pull screws and remove air bag carefully.

Ok, my '89 200 only has high beams if I press the
lever forward rather aggressively. Usually I have to
hold it there or find myself driving in the dark at
random :-) Very annoying.
So am I looking at manipulating/cleaning/soldering a
contact or two or just complete switch replacement?
Also, this car's always had a bit of a dead spot in
the switch where I briefly have no lites at all when
switching from hi to lo and back, because it was so
brief it never bothered me too much but I still found
it odd, seems the problem has now gotten much worse.
Oh, any tips on safely removing the air bag to pull
the wheel wouldn't hurt :-)
Much thanx,
Keith L.
