Just removed my Servotronic relay....

Ok. And if it did BOTH?!

This still doesn't explain how removing the SERVOTRONIC relay allows
the steering to recenter now. Not to mention, the recentering problem
existed for years so I just took it to be a function of the front
geometry; it never occurred to me that the pwr steering boost might be
affecting this.

I'm now able to relax my grip on the steering wheel around corners and
it recenters. Prior to this change, on tight corners (like the one
right near my house on my daily ride home), I would stick my fingers
inside the steering wheel spokes and dial the thing like a phone to
recenter it.

I'll tell you what, though, you can betcherarse I'm going to look at
that steering rack adjustment screw in the next few days.
