Orange digi dash lamps

The orange digital dash fitted to MB and RR Ur-quattros uses 3 G4 halogen
lamps for backlighting. According to TFA, these lamps are rated at 13.5v
4.5w. These are only available from Audi complete with a white lampholder
(as #811 919 040 BB) even though the lamp itself is removable. Current price
for these is in excess of GBP17.00.

I suspect that the rating in TFA is a wind-up and these are actually 12v 5w.
Go to any UK electrical store and you can find 12v 10w G4 halogen lamps for
less than GBP2.00. OK, the Audi supplied lamp has a convex tip capsule
(lens?) which is sealed at the base and other G4s have tip seals but the
disparity in prices is marked.

The Audi part is a GE lamp, printed with code GE882V0 and is supplied in a
plastic bag with printed instructions. Those instructions read as though
these are some sort of generic part rather than just an auto fitment.
There's no sign of this item in GE's on-line catalogue although they do list
a G4 12v 5w of tip-seal design.

I've yet to locate an alternative supplier - anybody else know of one?
