Hi listers,
I have (finally!) succesfully completed the cupholder
mod as outlined by Scott Mockry on his excellent website,
sjmautotechnik.com.

The part numbers, in case you're wondering:
4A0862533A-9XB
4A0862534A-9XB

I believe that Scott's numbers are not exactly as written above,
as my parts guy was not able to find them. The parts in question
are listed in ETKA under Audi 100, 1992, in the interior diagrams,
listed as a "cupholder insert."

The -9XB suffix is for the black interior. I do not have the codes
for grey, blue or beige, sorry.

As my car has the factory cell phone, it was not a drop-in affair.
I had to cut off about 1" from the back end of the insert in order
for the insert to clear the cellphone block in the space. However,
after doing this (Dremel w/ a cutting wheel works perfectly!), it
took a little work to get the tabs under the lip of the plastic
rim of the pocket but once I got it in, it stayed perfectly.

So, if you have the cell phone, it's not an effortless mod, but it
does work well- just remember you can't put anything with a diameter
larger than a 12oz. soda can in the cupholder. Time for me to get one
of those commuter mugs with the narrow part for the cupholder. :-)

No one else gets to eat/drink in my car, but it's my car, so I will
do as I please. :-)

This only took about 4 months for me to get around to doing, only took
about 15 minutes to complete, including measuring and cutting. But
very worthwhile to have at least _one_ cupholder in the car.

Taka
