Cupholder mod for 100/200 type 44

Absolutely not- the cupholder insert that I used fits in the pocket in
the center console, is a factory fit and requires no drilling. I'm not
drilling my console for the cupholder you mention. Also the Passat
cupholder does not fit flush as it is bolted on the side of the console.

For my 5ktq, the removal of the cassette holder on top of the hand brake
and mounting a vinyl-covered plywood board with a Griot's "Mercedes"
Fischer cupholder works very well. I even have space to mount a second one
if I really want another. That required drilling, although the holes can
easily be covered by remounting the cassette holder.

shoulda put a b4 passat ('95-'97) cupholder in, looks stock and takes 2 
drinks of any size (from soda can to big gulp slurpee size) 
and installation takes about 5 minutes at the most.
