Locations for mounting oil cooler in type 44

Listers,

I'm ready to mount my Earl's cooler in place of the OE unit
and I got to thinking..... is there somewhere else that would
be better than the stock location?

The only places I can think of:

a. Behind bumper (bad news in frontal collision I imagine!)

b. In the space in front of the radiator (pre-heating
   AC condenser is probably not a good idea).

c. Front of wheel well (Porsche style with rock louver,
   doubt there is room, ducting could be fun)

I was going to 'gill' the plastic wheel liner to let
a bit more air pass through and fabricate a larger
than OE duct from the lower bumper.  Any BTDT?
