Air filter housing

OK,
I am new to the list and just bought an '89 200 avant. Going thru the
usual vacuum hoses, turbo hoses, gaskets, etc. I do have a Bentley
manual, but I cannot seem to get enough room to remove the air filter
housing w/out distruction. Bentley does not seem to show much on this. I
have removed the RF tire, inner fender, intake boot, fuel filter, O2
sensor, CO pipe, and STILL cannot get the air filter housing out. What
am i missing on this?
