As some of you may have heard I am building a grease powered
(recycled vegetable oil in a (very) torbo diesel motor'd racecar for
MT washington this year. I am corrently questioning on thing and it calls
for reading Maximum Boost by Corky Bell again, but I am hoping someone can
help.
Is the exhaust energy of VW 1.6TD motor great enough to produce high
boost on a large turbo such as a T-3 from a Merkur or a KKK from a beloved
5k? Will boost pressure continue to rise if the wastegate never cracks
open? How can a little motor turning no more that 5000 RPM create between
25 and 50 PSI of boost?
Thanks for the help, please send replies to me as I am not reading all of
my Digest mail these days. I think so far I just believe that the boost
will be achievable, but I think that 50 pounds is also high and probably
very UN necessary. But 30 psi might be the number.
