cooling fan on with ignition (was 1992 100CS question (calling a ll))

I would start with the most obvious culprit - the thermo switch in the
radiator.  I had the same symptoms with my '87 5000cstqw.

I was wondering if anyone here could help me with a qwuestion i have been 
asking myself for the past 2 weeks.  

"why is my 2 cooling fans running all the time, even when i just start the 
car and the engine is cold " ?????  they run until i shut the car off.

this never happened before.  does anyone have experience with this.
