This problem.

It is an "isolation" unit, for cars that can't handle having
the additional load placed on the bulb wiring for whatever
reason. It could be inadequate wiring, or (in our case), the
use of current sensors for bulb checking.

You just use one of these harnesses instead of a regular harness
and it all works. I got mine from NAPA, cost $59 I think. It
plugged right in and worked just fine.
