While not wanting to rain on your parade, and US ingenuity has overcome
bigger problems than the ones you will find in trying to reach Audi Sport -
I have to endorse the info that Brett gave you.
Audi Sport is completely divorced from the production car process. Even the
marketeers are frustrated by their inability to offer incentive
relationships with Audi Sport to enhance their dealer relations. Audi is
very very hierarchical. Communication lines are rigid unless you are related
to a Porsche or a Peich (same family actually) or a VAG director!
This is a company that has never had the opportunity to build on its
"enthusiast" relationships. Unlike BMW and Merc or even the US OEMS, Audi is
in racing purely to get its name in front of the masses. Few get better
access than that because it adds exponentially to the costs with which I
must agree (BTDT with Tyrell in the 70s). So unless you have a killer app.,
enough money to buy a race car outright, and support it in a viable series
(major global TV coverage) for at least 2 years and someone else they trust
will validate this, it will be like talking to a sponge.
Too bad really.
Colin
